More About Kenneth Gyang

Kenneth Gyang is a director, writer and producer from Barkin Ladi, Plateau State. His work in film and television has gained recognition at home and abroad.

Inspired by listening to BBC World Service, Kenneth’s early ambition was a career in radio. However, shortly after completing school he came across a poster advertsing Nigeria’s National Film Institute, located in
the nearby state capital, Jos. He applied and was accepted.

Kenneth’s interest was initially in screen-writing only but, frustrated with seeing unimaginative interpretations of his work, decided to try directing one of his scripts. The result was the award winning short Mummy Lagos, a two-minute meditation on the African food that has been screened at festivals worldwide. Most notably, Kenneth presented the film at the 2006 Berllinale.

Following this early success, Kenneth has been working constantly as a director.
Highlights include being one of three directors of the groundbreaking BBC series Wetin Dey and writing and directing SoundCity’s drama series Finding Aisha. The former is widely acknowledged to have set new standards in West African television and was screened at the 2007 EMMY awards in Los Angeles. In recognition of the latter he won Screen Producer of the Year at the 2010 Future Awards.

Kenneth is currently preparing to direct his debut feature, Confusion Na Wa

In addition, the LED-based projector offers instant on/off functionality, requiring almost no warm up time, producing a nearly instantaneous projected image.

“Utilizing 3LCD technology in the F10M was an obvious choice,” said Tom Grau, senior product marketing manager for Samsung Electronics Co., LTD. “The technology advantages offered by the 3LCD architecture ensure the F10M provides customers with an incredibly bright and energy efficient projector, and when paired with an LED light source, even more amazing color and image quality.”

technology and has consistently been the choice of users who demand
long-life performance and reliability.

Trend Micro Announces “What’s Your Story?” 2010 Video Contest Winners

Trend Micro Announces “What’s Your Story?” 2010 Video Contest Winners

User-generated video contest spotlights Internet safety, education, and awareness during Internet Safety Month in the U.S.

CUPERTINO, Calif., June 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — The video “Overexposed” by Nicholas Chen and Edan Freiberger took the grand prize this year in the Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids and Families “What’s Your Story” 2010 Video Contest. “Overexposed” humorously and realistically demonstrates the importance of keeping a good reputation online and the consequences of not doing so.

On March 16, Trend Micro along with Internet safety advocacy groups Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely, and the Identity Theft Resource Center launched the “What’s Your Story?” video contest. The contest called for anyone over the age of 13 to submit a video, no longer than two minutes in length, on Internet safety that could help educate others in one of four categories: keeping a good rep online; staying away from unwanted contact (cyberbullying, sexual predators); sticking to legal, age-appropriate content; and keeping the cybercriminals out.

Over the course of six weeks, 120 videos were submitted with over 40 percent coming from people under the age of 18. “Keeping a good rep online” and “staying away from unwanted contact” were the two categories with the most submissions, not surprisingly since cyberbullying and online reputation are very relevant to today’s youth.

“We were thrilled with the amount of participation in this contest among contestants young and old,” said Lynette Owens, director of corporate outreach for Trend Micro. “They connected with the topics and in the spirit of competition, became the educators by getting the word out about their own videos. It was difficult to decide among so many great entries, but we plan to use many of them in teaching curricula, and in various other ways to promote Internet safety.”

Contestants were required to select one of four Internet safety topics and were encouraged to promote their own videos. Finalists were selected based on a combination of views and ratings, and winners were selected by a panel of judges from the four sponsoring organizations. One grand prize winner and four category runners-up were chosen based on creativity, appropriateness and effectiveness. The grand prize winner receives $10,000 and the four runners-up receive $500 each.

Legacy: The Thomas Ikimi Film that Idris Elba Gave the Props

Some said Thomas Ikimi’s new feature Legacy was the toast of the 2010 Glasgow Film Festival in Scotland, but it has not been rated as a must watch movie by many movie reviewers in the U.S. and in fact, one reviewer called it a failure. Therefore, do not expect this film to draw crowds at the cinemas or give Ikimi and his executive producer good returns at the box office.

Ikimi raised as much cash as he could from Nigeria, when he wanted to spend only $20,000 and use his cronies to make up the cast and crew, but the interest of leading British actor Idris Elba increased the stakes and the budget increased to a little over $500, 000. Legacy was shot within 30 days in Scotland, but set in New York with Elba attracting the major cast from the U.S. The cast made the simple story of a ‘Black Ops’ soldier dealing with the consequences of a failed mission in Eastern Europe a gripping political thriller. The lead role of Michael Gray was played by Elba.

Reviewers have given credit for the saving grace of Legacy to the outstanding acting skills of Elba and the proven expertise of the crew. Finis.

We dedicate the Jay-Z’s Forever Young to the memory of Gary Coleman.

[Mr. Hudson sings]
Let’s dance in style
Let’s dance for a while
Heaven can wait we’re only watching the sky
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not
Let us die young or let us live forever
We don’t have the power but we never say never
Sitting in the sandpit
Life is a short trip
The music’s for the sad man

[chorus]
Forever young I wanna be
Forevery young
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever and ever
Forever young I wanna be
Forevery young
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever, forever

[Jay-z sings]
So we livin life like a video
Where the sun is always out and you never get old
and the champaign is always cold
and the music is always good
and the pretty girls just happen to stop by in the hood
and they hop they pretty ass up on the hood of that pretty ass car
without a wrinkle in today
cuz there is no tomorrow
just a picture perfect day
that last a whole lifetime
and it never ends
Because all we have to do is hit rewind
so lets just stay in the moment smoke some weed drink some wine
reminisce talk some shit forever young is in your mind
leave a mark they can’t erase. Neither space nor time
So when the director yells cut
I’ll be fine
I’m forever young

[chorus]
Forever young I wanna be
Forever young
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever and ever
Forever young I wanna be
Forever young
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever, forever

[Jay-z sings]
Fear not where, fear not why, fear not much while we’re alive
Life is for living not living uptight
Until you’re somewhere up in the sky
Fear not die I’ll be alive for a million years bye bye are not for legends I’m forever young my name shall survive
Through the darkest blocks, over kitchen stoves, over Pyrex pots, My name shall be passed down to generations while debatin’ up in barber shops
Young slung, hung here, Showed that a nigga from here, With a little ambition, just what we can become here.
And as the father pass the story down to his son’s ear Young get younger every year, yeah
So if you love me baby this is how you let me know, Don’t ever let me go, thats how you let me know, baby

[chorus]
Forever young I wanna be
Forever young
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever and ever
Forever young I wanna be
Forever young
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever, forever

[Jay-z sings]
Slammin’ Bentley doors, hoppin’ outta Porsche
Poppin’ Up on Forbes list
Gorgeous, hold up, Niggas thought I lost it
They be talking bullshit, I be talking more shit, They nauseous, hold up I’ll be here forever You know I’m on my four shit I ain’t with foreclosure I will never forfeit Less than four bars Guru bring the chorus in Did you get the picture yet I’m painting you a portrait of Young

[chorus]
Forever young I wanna be
Forevery young
Do you really want to live forever?
